LWB383P

Ailsa LWB383P, now returned to the SYTT's premises at Tinsley, seen in the yard on 11th May 2009.

383 was new to the SYPTE's Greenland Road garage on 1st June 1976. It operated here for appox 10 years, before being sold to Hampshire Bus, along with other members of the batch. It then migrated to Glasgow and Carlisle(Magic Bus), before ending up at Blue Triangle, Liverpool. From here 383 went North to Tuhope Coaches, Kilmarnock, where it ran until March 1997, when it was acquired by the 4738 Group, Birmingham, for preservation. The current owner acquired 383 in September 1997.

The vehicle has languished in a yard at Clews Top, 20 miles outside Kidderminster for around 6 years, and really is in quite a sorry state. Some work was carried out on the vehicle in 1997 to 2000 but there is an enormous task ahead.

After much uncertainty about the vehicles furture, the bus has now returned to Sheffield, and once again has a secure future.

The bus was towed back without incident by Roys Autos of Barnsley on the 11th May, and was shunted into its new home during that evening. Despite its poor condition, 383 has generated much enthusiasm amongst people at the SYTT, and will certainly one day be restored to its former glory.
